Is Nokia back in the game?
When the mobile phone was first
becoming a huge trend, the major player was Nokia with their snap on colored
cases and snake. Now, Nokia is on the backburner in the mobile phone game but
could that all be changing? The
new Nokia Lumia 1520 can certainly compete in
the mobile phone market now, with a 6” 1070p full HD display and 20MP camera.
The phone itself is an attractive
phone. Its lightweight and the Windows 8 operating system makes it even easier
to access your essential apps and messages through panels. These panels can of
course be customized in any way you see fit, and the color scheme to really
make your phone your own. The screen itself works even when you’re wearing
gloves so you don’t need to keep taking them off in the bitter cold in order to
use your phone. The battery is good for 22 hours when making phone calls, or
696 hours on stand-by so you don’t need to rush and find a charger in the
middle of the town centre when your batteries running low.
The 20MP camera makes the
beginner feel like a budding amateur photographer. Nowadays, we all don’t want
just a phone… we want a camera, the internet, the ability to use video chat and
play angry birds (let’s not lie to ourselves!) and the Nokia Lumia certainly
gives us that. It also has built in Microsoft Word and SkyDrive so you can
alter last minute essays or edit your CV in minutes on the go. It even has
wireless charging which Nokia is definitely leading the way on.
If you’re an avid gamer like
myself, you can even link up your Xbox account to your phone and play classics
such as assassins creed and plants v zombies. So, if you’re thinking about
jumping off the iPhone train and wanting something a little bit different,
Nokia offers this whilst providing a great feeling and easy to use phone.
So, is it really worth the money?
Simply put, definitely. The phone itself is on average a little bit over £400,
which is
About £150 cheaper than the new
iPhone 5s. On a pay monthly plan, you’ll be paying as little as £30 a month and
get a free £20 app voucher to spend on all your favourites. So, if you’re on
the fence about whether it’s worth the money or if you’re debating on whether
to get it in
comparison with another phone – The Nokia Lumia ultimately will
offer more variety and value.
